This photo taken on May 1, 1971, shows the very distinctive trail heading right for the snow covered 10,600 foot Pilot Peak. Bruce Bloomfield is on the left then J. Quentin Adair with Dan Miller on the right. This photo was used by Gregory Franzwa on the cover of his California Trails book after the three men were blanked out. The stock trails to and from the spring is in back of Bruce & Adair.
