This is the Hill Cumorah Monument erected by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It commemorates the delivering of the ancient American record known as The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ to the prophet Joseph Smith on 22 September 1827.
The figure at the top represents Moroni, the heavenly messenger who visited Joseph Smith. He is shown as though calling the inhabitants of the Earth to hear and to heed the gospel message and as holding in his left had the plates from which the "Book of Mormon" was translated.
