The following description comes from trail markers at the Sacred Grove:
The Smiths marked the boundary of their property with large stones gathered while clearing the land. They then built a fence over the stacked stones to keep wandering livestock out of their property.They split thousands of rails and constructed a variety of fences throughout their property to enclose fields and contain their animals.
Remnants of the perimeter fence stone base are visible here.
