Peh-tó-pe-kiss, the Eagle's Ribs; chief of the "Blood Band," full length, in splendid dress; head-dress of horns of the buffalo and ermines' tails; lance in his hand and two medicine-bags. (Painted in 1832.)

This man is one of the extraordinary men of the Blackfeet tribe, though not a chief; he stands here in the fort, and deliberately boast of eight scalps, which he says he has taken from the heads of trappers and traders with his own hands. His dress is really superb, almost literally covered with scalp-locks of savages and white people. I have painted him at full length, with a head-dress made entirely of ermine skin and horns of the buffalo.
