Caption
This was the room where the jailers resided at the Liberty Jail during the time when Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, Sidney Rigdon, Lyman Wight, Alexander McRae, and Caleb Balwin were imprisoned on December 1, 1838. They were held on a number of charges despite the lack of evidence. They endured a bitter Missour winter until April 6, 1839. Notice the trap door in the middle of the floor.
