Caption

The Soldiers' National Monument is the focal point of the Soldiers' National cemetery. Dedicated on July 1, 1869, it was the first of Gettysburg's grand memorials. At the top of the monument stands Liberty who holds the wreath of victory and the sheathed sword of battle.
