The Birdman Tablet shows man with a bird-like mask. He is in a dance pose with a winged costume. It was found at Monks Mound and dates to 1300 A.D. The reverse side has a crosshatched pattern perhaps representing snake skin. The tablet is symbolic of the sky world (bird), this world (man), and the underworld (snake).
