Caption
This is the Cottonwood Creek Canyon with Idaho Hwy. 34 running through it then into the deep cut on the right center portion of the photo. It is believed that the Bidwell Trail went upon the bench land to the right on a natural slope between the trees in the center of the photo just to the right of the road bend. It would be difficult if not impossible for them to build a road up the narrow, rock filled steep canyon where the road is today.
