Description
A perennial shrub that grows to 3 to 4 feet in height. The plant resembles C. racemosa (L.) Nutt but is not as tall; and it has shorter lateral spikes of small, white flowers plus a terminal spike.
Flowering Period
July to September.
Habitat
Moist woods.
Harvest
Rhizomes and roots at end of growing season.
Uses
This plant is used as a antispasmodic in some areas. (See C. racemosa.)
