Description
A perennial that grows to 9 inches in height. Liver-shaped leaves have 3 to 5 lobes, and each leaf stalk has one leaf. Produces a single white to purplish flower in spring.

Rich calcareous woods.

Leaves in the spring.

Uses
This herb has been used as a tonic, mild astringent, and diuretic.
