The cemetery, next to the Joseph and Emma's home site, is a solemn reminder of the trials Joseph and Emma went through. The day after Martin Harris departed Harmony with the first 116 translated pages of the Book of Mormon, Emma gave birth to a son that did not survive. The gravestone inscription reads, "In memory of an infant son of Joseph & Emma Smith - June 15, 1828." Also in the cemetery are the parents of Emma Smith - Isaac and Elizabeth Hale. The following shows the fronts of the 3 graves. On the reverse side is embedded earlier grave stone markers.
